If you were absent on Monday January 31st

Chemistry A- The students took a test over Nomenclature. Also, WebAssign was due today.

Intro to Chemistry- First, the class grade the worksheet over Writing Formulas and Naming Compounds. Then, the students completed the questions from the book (page 714-715 # 1-18, 20, 29, 31, 33). Finally, the students worked on the Chapter 22 Review worksheet. The Chapter 22 Test is tomorrow.

Integrated Science B- Today, the students started out by grading the worksheet over Metals, Nonmetals and Metalloids. Next, the class took notes over the Families of Elements. Finally, I assigned a worksheet over Elements.

If you were absent on Friday January 28th

Chemistry A- The students started the period by taking the Nomenclature III Quiz. Next, we graded the quiz on the SmartBoard. Finally, the class went to the media center to work on WebAssign.

Intro to Chemistry- First, we checked the worksheet over Chapter 22 Section 3. Then, I assigned a worksheet over Naming formulas and Writing Compounds. The chapter 22 test will be on Tuesday 2/1.

Integrated Science B- To start things, we graded the Element worksheet. Next, the class took notes over types of elements (Metal, Nonmetal or Metalloid). Lastly, I assigned a worksheet over Metals, Nonmetals, and Metalloids.

If you were absent on Thursday January 27th

Chemistry A- First, the students took a pre-lab quiz. Next, the students completed the Anion Lab. After the lab, the class went to the media center to work on WebAssign.

Intro to Chemistry- To start things off, the class graded the worksheet over Writing and Naming Compounds. Next, the students took a Chapter 22 Quiz. After grading the quiz in class, the students were assigned a worksheet over Chapter 22 Section 3.

Integrated Science B- First, I took a completion grade on the Periodic Table. The students needed to print off a color Periodic Table. Next, the students took notes over symbols and names of elements, the Early Periodic Table and the Modern Periodic Table. Finally, I assigned a worksheet over Element names and symbols.

If you were absent on Wednesday January 26th

Chemistry A- As a class, we graded the quiz over nomenclature. Then, the students took notes on how to name molecules using the stock system of nomenclature. After working some examples, we went to the media center to work on WebAssign.

Intro to Chemistry- I took a completion grade on the worksheet over writing and naming chemical formulas. We worked the problems on the SmartBoard. Finally, I assigned another worksheet on writing and naming chemical formulas.

Integrated Science B- The students took a test over Evolution. I assigned the students to find a periodic table on the internet and print it off.

If you were absent on Tuesday January 25

Chemistry A- The students started the day off taking a Quiz over Nomenclature. Next, they took notes on how to determine oxidation numbers of elements in a compound. Finally, I assigned a worksheet over assigning oxidation numbers.

Intro to Chemistry- First, we graded the two worksheets from yesterday (Oxidation & Formula writing and Bonding & Chemical Formulas). Next, I used the SmartBoard to present how to name chemical formulas. After working some practice problems in class, I assigned a worksheet over writing and naming compounds.

Integrated Science B- The student started an OGT practice test on the computer. I assigned a worksheet over Evolution. The Test over Evolution is tomorrow.

If you were absent on Monday January 24th

Chemistry A- First, the students 1/2 sheet scrapped three worksheets (Naming and Writing Ionic Compounds, Binary Molecular Compounds and Naming Acids). Next, the class graded the Quiz over Ionic Compounds. Finally, the students worked on the lab- Testing for Iron (II) and Iron (III) ions. Tomorrow the students have a quiz over nomenclature.

Intro to Chemistry- To start things off, I took a completion grade on the oxidation numbers worksheet and we graded the worksheet on chemical bonds. Then, the students took a quiz over the Chapter 22 vocabulary words. Next, we worked on the smartboard learning how to write the formula of a compound. Finally, I assigned two worksheets (Oxidation & Formula Writing and Bonding & Chemical Formulas).

Integrated Science B- First, I handed back the notes over evolution. Next, the students worked on Investigation 9.3 of the BSCS book. Finally, I assigned a worksheet of birds and different beaks.

Chemistry A- We took a quiz over writing and naming ionic compounds. Next, the students went to the Media Center to work on WebAssign.

Intro to Chemistry- First, the student worked on a lab over Modeling Chemical Bonding. Next, I assigned a worksheet over Chemical Bonds.

Integrated Science B- To start things off, the students took notes on Evolution. Next, they worked on a Science World graphing activity.

Chemistry A- First, we took notes on Binary Molecular Compounds and Naming Acids. I assigned worksheets over Binary Molecular Compounds and Naming Acids. Tomorrow the students have a quiz over naming and writing Ionic Compounds.

Intro to Chemistry- To start things off, we graded the two worksheets from Tuesday (Types of Bonds and Counting Atoms). Next, the students took notes on Chapter 22 section 3. Finally, I assigned a worksheet on Charting Oxidation Numbers. The Vocabulary Quiz has been moved to Monday.

If you were absent on Tuesday January 18th

Chemistry A- To start things off, the class discussed the Lab over Iron (II) and Iron (III) ions that we will do tomorrow. Next, we got into clock partners and discussed the two worksheets from last Friday. Then, I assigned the worksheet- Naming and Writing Ionic Compounds.

Intro to Chemistry- First, I took a completion grade on the Chapter 22 Vocabulary words. Then, the class graded the worksheet over Stability in Bonding. Next, we took notes on the smartboard over Section 2 of Chapter 22. Finally, I assigned two worksheets (Types of Bonds and Counting Atoms with Balancing).

Integrated Science- Today, we did an OGT practice assignment.

If you were absent Friday Jan. 14

Chemistry A- We started class talking about nomenclature. We discussed how to name binary ionic compounds and how to write the formulas of binary ionic compounds. Next, we discussed the stock system of nomenclature. Finally, I assigned two worksheets (Naming Binary Formulas and Binary Ionic Compounds.)

Intro to Chemistry- To start class, we graded the worksheet on Counting Atoms. Next, I assigned the Chapter 22 Vocabulary words and show the students the format for defining the words. Finally, I assigned the worksheet- Stability in Bonding. The Chapter 22 Vocab Quiz will be on Thurday Jan. 20th.

Integrated Science- The students took notes over Evolution. Then, the class worked on a Peppered Moth Simulation.

Chemistry A- The students took the test over bonding today. Make sure that you have printed out the ion sheets for tomorrow.

Intro to Chemistry- First, the class took notes and viewed a powerpoint of Chapter 22 section #1. Then, we used the smartboard to learn how to count atoms in a chemical formula. Finally, I assigned a worksheet over counting atoms.

Integrated Science B- The students took a test over Ecology and Ecosystems. After the test, the students completed a Science World with a worksheet.

If you were absent on Wednesday Jan. 12

Chemistry A- First, we 1/2 sheet scrapped pages 216-217. Next we went to the Media Center to work on the WebAssign assignment. The WebAssign is due tomorrow. The Bonding test is tomorrow.

Intro to Chemistry- The students took the Chapter 19 Test today. Also, I assigned a Science World with a worksheet. Read Chapter 22 section 1 for tomorrow.

Integrated Science B- First, I collected the Biome WebQuest project. Then, the students worked on the computer to create a Food Web. The Food Web is due Friday. The Test over Ecology and Ecosystems is tomorrow.

Chemistry A- The students 1/2 sheet scraped the assignment on Pages 183-184. Then, we completed the Lab- Chemical Bonds. I assigned Page 216-217 # 2-9, 11, 15, 20, 22, 23, 27, 29-34.

Intro to Chemistry- First, we graded the worksheet over the Alien Periodic Table. Next, the students took an Element Quiz. Finally, the class review for the Chapter 19 test. We will take the test tomorrow.

Integrated Science B- The students took a quiz over Populations. Next, the students worked on the Biome WebQuest. The WebQuest is due tomorrow.

Chemistry A- First, I handed back the second quiz over covalent bonding. We went over some of the problems in class. Next, the student took notes over Ionic Bonding. Finally, I assigned questions from the book on page 183-184.

Intro to Chemistry- The students finished the periodic table lab that we started on Friday. The homework assignment was a worksheet over the Alien Periodic Table.

Integrated Science B- The students worked on the Biome WebQuest. Quiz over Ecology and Ecosystems on Tuesday.

Chemistry A- First, the class took a quiz over covalent bonds. Then, the student worked on the Molecular Models lab.

Intro to Chemistry- To start class, we graded the homework assignments (Periodic Table Worksheet, Coloring Periodic Table, and the Egg Shell lab). Next, the students took a quiz over the periodic table. Finally, the class started a lab over the periodic table. We will work on this lab on Monday also.

Integrated Science B- The class worked on their Biome WebQuest. There will be a quiz over Ecology and Ecosystems on Monday.

If you were absent on Thursday Jan. 6

Chemistry A- Today, we took notes on polar bonds, polar molecules and intermolecular forces. Next, we started working on a lab building molecules. There will be a quiz over covalent bonds tomorrow.

Intro to Chemistry- First, we graded the worksheet turned in yesterday. Next, I demonstrated how do write the electron dot notation of an element. We worked a few examples on the smartboard. Then, I discussed the egg shell electron lab and worked an example of the lab. Finally, the students worked on the lab. The lab will be turned in tomorrow. Also, I assigned a worksheet over the periodic table.

Integrated Science B- The class worked on there Biome WebQuest.

If you were absent on Wednesday Jan.5

Chemistry A- We started class by 1/2 sheet scrapping the two worksheets. Next, we took notes over coordinate covalent bonds, VSEPR Theory and Resonance Structures. Also, we took a quiz over covalent bonding.

Intro to Chemistry- First, I collected yesterday's worksheet. Second, I presented a powerpoint over the Penny Isotope lab. The students were grouped into fours and we completed the Penny Isotope lab. Finally, I assigned a periodic table project.

Integrated Science B- I introduced the WebQuest over Biomes. Then, the students decided what job they wanted in the group. Finally, they started researching their biomes.

If you were absent on Tuesday January 4th

Chemistry A- To start the class, we one-half sheet scrapped the two assignments from yesterday. Next, we continued our notes on Bonding (The Octet Rule and Lewis Structures). I assigned two worksheets (Electron Dot Notation and Lewis Structures).

Intro to Chem- First, we took notes on Chapter 19 section 3. This took almost the entire period. I assigned the Worksheet- Chapter 19 Sections 1 & 2.

Integrated Science- Today, we finished Investigation 22.1 of the BSCS book. At the end of the period, the students turned in their climatograms. Tomorrow, we will start the Biome WebQuest.

If you were absent on Monday January 3rd

Chemistry A- We started a new chapter on Bonding. We went over notes on Ionic or Covalent Bonding and how to tell which type of bond. Next, I showed students how to write the electron dot notation of main group elements. Finally, I assigned a worksheet- What Type of Bond? and problems #1-13 on page 165 of the book. We will 1/2 sheet scrap this tomorrow.



Intro to Chemistry- First, the students took 10 minutes to look over their element symbols and names. Then, the class took a quiz over element symbols. Next, we went over the Vocab quiz that the students took on Tuesday Dec. 21. Finally, the students did a lab trying to identify hidden barriers.



Integrated Science- We started class by discussing Climatograms. I demonstrated how to graph the temperature and precipitation of different biomes. Next, I assigned the investigation from the BSCS (Green book) on Climatograms on page 589. We will be working on this investigation tomorrow also.
